I don’t normally like to make monthly TBR lists because I am the moodiest reader that I know. However, there are some books that I know I really want to read sooner than later, so I thought maybe making a (tentative) short list of books I want to read this coming month and crossing them off would be fun. Whether or not I read all the books on this list is up in the air.

To be honest, I’d like to actually complete a Monthly TBR for once.

Potential August 2020 TBR

1. Would Like to Meet – Rachel Winters

In order to save her job and get the promotion she’s been waiting for, Evie must convince Ezra Chester to finish his script for a Hollywood romantic comedy. Only Ezra is suffering from writer’s block, and sends Evie on a mission to prove that love like the movies actually exists. The problem? Evie isn’t so sure about true love herself, but her job is on the line, and she’ll do whatever she has to in order to save it.

2. Lock & Key – Sarah Dessen

Ruby is a girl who’s pretty much been on her own. When her mother leaves and doesn’t come back, she’s sent to live with her older sister, Cora, and is thrown into a world of luxurious living complete with a cute boy-next-door with a troubled past of his own.

3. This Love Story Will Self-Destruct – Leslie Cohen

Eve and Ben are opposites in nearly every way. Eve’s a dreamer and is not afraid to show emotion, while Ben has his feet on solid ground and likes order in his life. So when Eve and Ben first meet, sparks do not fly. Then they meet again, and again. They soon find themselves with an oddly deep connection that might change how they feel about each other.

4. Ban This Book – Alan Gratz

When fourth-grader Amy tires to check out her favorite book at the school library, she finds out that it has been banned. So what does she do? She starts her own illegal locker library for banned books!

5. The Truth About Forever – Sarah Dessen

Macy doesn’t have much planned for the summer while Jason is away at Brain Camp. Just working at the library, going over SAT prep, and grieving the loss of her father. But when she starts working at Wish Catering, helps with her sister’s summer-house renovation project, and meets Wes, a boy with his own past troubles, her world is turned upside down.

6. Ghosts of Harvard – Francesca Serritella

Cadence Archer begins her studies at Harvard with the motive of understanding why her brother took his life there a year earlier. As she struggles in her own studies, she begins hearing voices herself. Is she going down the same schizophrenic path as her brother, or are there really ghosts haunting Harvard’s walls?

Please note that these books are not in order of when I’ll read them. They’re just my six picks for the month and again, I’m hoping I’ll actually stick to this list and read them all. I think the ones I’m most excited for are the first three. They just sound the best to me. I’m a little wary of Ghosts of Harvard, but it sounds interesting so I’ll at least give it a shot.
