I tried doing this TBR post thing back in August, but then I succumbed to a reading slump and only finished one book that month. However, I am in more of a reading mood, especially with so many new books coming out these next few months, so I think a themed TBR might work.
What I mean by that is not necessarily picking the exact books that I’d like to read, but a bunch to choose from that follow a theme. In this case, I really want to read some mysteries (either general mysteries or murder mysteries) since it’s October. No horror because I’m not a horror fan. I also did a murder mystery display at work, so I can pick some books off that if I get stuck. So here are the books that I’d like to choose from as my reads this month… I’m hoping to read about five from this list.
And for the record, the ARC (Love & Olives) that I’m finishing up is obviously the exception to my theme here.
My Potential October TBR
- The Thursday Murder Club – Richard Osman
- The Hunting Party – Lucy Foley
- Truly Devious – Maureen Johnson
- The Cheerleaders – Kara Thomas
- And Then There Were None – Agatha Christie
- Aftermath – Clara Kensie
- The Face on the Milk Carton – Caroline Cooney
- The Mystery of Hollow Places – Rebecca Podos
- Scarlett Undercover – Jennifer Latham
- Find Me – Romily Bernard
- Liars, Inc – Paula Stokes
- Emancipated – M.G. Reyes
- There’s Someone Inside Your House – Stephanie Perkins

And of course, anything Sherlock Holmes, Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew, and written by Agatha Christie are up for consideration as well. I do have a Hercule Poirot short story book that I’m working on (and could read one a day for the month) but I have to find it first (yay moving).
Again, this is just more of a list of books for me to pick from this month to read within my given theme. I might not end up following it at all, but I’d like to try. There are some really good books on this list (or sound good, anyway) and I want to read them anyway… so why not now?
Have you read any of the books on my little list here? If not, are there any that interest you?

I hope you can enjoy these reads this month! I’m really curious about Truly Devious! It’s not my usual style books, but I am intrigued by it!

Me too! I feel the same about Truly Devious, but the setting is a boarding school in Vermont and that’s my favorite state so I’m alllll about it 🤣

Thanks! I still haven’t gotten to any yet, so I won’t be reading as many as I’d like, but Truly Devious is on top of the list!
