So many times I look at some of my books and see ones that I wish I could read again but as if it were the first time. I know a lot of us bookworms feel this way because there’s nothing like opening a book and being brought into an entire new world for the first time or just falling in love with characters. It’s magical, even when magic isn’t an element of the book.

That being said, I thought I’d share some of the books I wish I could experience again for the first time.

Harry Potter series – J.K. Rowling

This one is the obvious one because I read these as they came out and man… it was a journey. It literally made up my childhood and teenage years. The best part of it all was sharing it with two of my friends. Our parents would pre-order the books for us and then we’d spend the release day reading all day long. Then add in the magic of the world of Harry Potter and… yeah. Those years were just very good times.

The Land of Stories series – Chris Colfer

If you like Harry Potter and/or fairy tales, you’ll love this series. It’s definitely more geared to middle grade readers than Harry Potter is, but I read these in my mid-20s and loved them just the same as my 12-year-old self would’ve. I’m getting to the point where I want to reread this series (because I read them during my Master’s program) and I’d just like to read them again without the pressure of school.

Time Bomb – Joelle Charbonneau

I love, love, love this book! The first time I read it was as an eARC from NetGalley and I nearly read the entire book in one sitting. Honestly, if I hadn’t had to be at work early the next day, I would’ve finished it. There was just little twists and turns that the story took that kept me on edge and it was immediately deemed one of my top favorite books of all time. I’d love to experience this for the first time again.

The Gallagher Girls series – Ally Carter

I sort-of had that “first time” experience for the second time when I reread this series a couple years ago, since it had been over ten years since I’d started the series. That, and I had never actually read the last two books. But I love this series so much that I’ll definitely reread it again (and again…).

Lola and the Boy Next Door – Stephanie Perkins

I’ve read this book three or four times already and never tire of it. It’s a go-to when I’m in a reading slump because the story is just so cute that it just puts me back into a reading mood. I’d love to meet these characters again for the first time. Also, if you haven’t read it… you should!

Love & Gelato – Jenna Evans Welch

This book took me through Italy for the first time. I honestly felt like I was there and experiencing the story along with the main character. That’s how good this book was (and the other two in this collection), and I’d love to take that journey again for the first time if I could.

I could probably add anther twenty or so books to this list, but I won’t do that to y’all. Maybe I’ll do anther “volume” of these, but we’ll see what happens. Either way, it was fun to go back and look at what books I’d add to this list. Also, not related, but this is my 300th post on the blog!
