So… I jinxed myself earlier this month. I mentioned how I hadn’t hit my usual October reading slump and that I was on a roll with reading, only to hit a slump earlier this month. A frustrating one at that. I blame Glee entirely, as I can’t stop watching it (again) and I just keep going back to favorite episodes and watching my favorite ones (or just favorite moments) over and over. It’s bad. However, Glee is leaving Netflix tomorrow so that’ll kind of force me out of watching it for a while.
Despite the slump, I managed to get out of it quicker than usual and still read more books than I thought I would for this month. Haikyu!! helped a little again this month, and my November TBR did not. Despite this, I am making a December TBR because the Reindeer Readathon starts tomorrow, and that one might motivate me to stick to my list.
- Time Bomb – Joelle Charbonneau ✰✰✰✰✰
- The People We Choose – Katelyn Detweiler ✰✰✰.5
- Aftermath – Clara Kensie ✰✰✰✰.5
- Haikyu!! vol. 11 – Haruichi Furudate ✰✰✰
- Haikyu!! vol. 12 – Haruichi Furudate ✰✰✰.5
- You’ll Be the Death of Me – Karen M. McManus ✰✰✰
- If I Stay – Gayle Forman ✰✰✰✰✰
- Where She Went – Gayle Foman ✰✰✰.5
- Living Among Lions – David & Jason Benham ✰✰✰✰✰
I successfully bought no books this month!! Well, not for me, anyway. I got people books as gifts for birthdays/Christmas.
Dexter is BACK! I honestly wasn’t sure if I was going to watch the reboot of this show because it has been a long time, but about two days before the first episode came out, I suddenly was super interested in seeing it. If only to see where Dexter ended up and what the new show would entail. I’m glad I started watching it because I can tell it’s going to be good and possibly above the fanbase’s expectations. At least, I’m hoping it will be. I know there are four episodes out now, but I’ve only seen the first two. But I like where it’s heading so far.
With the reboot now streaming and releasing new episodes weekly, I needed to go back and at least casually watch the original Dexter series. It’s not high on my watch list right now, but I’m going through it to refresh my memory of all the events that led up to that horrid finale that ended up prompting this reboot in the first place. Plus there are obvious story-lines that I enjoy more than others, like the Trinity Killer arc and of course the first two seasons are probably my favorites. Watching the original series though makes me miss all the old characters in Dexter: New Blood.
So I only sort-of watched Glee, depending on how you look at it. I wasn’t really watching it in order but rather bounced through the series to re-watch favorite episodes and scenes. It’s kind of the reason I went into a reading slump this month, but the show is leaving Netflix and Amazon Prime Video (streaming) November 30th (or December 1st) so I might as well binge on it while I can. I’ll probably buy the complete series DVD after Christmas so I can still enjoy the show now and then (unless another streaming service that I have picks it up before then).
Last, but not least, I started watching Grey’s Anatomy, thanks to a poll I did on Twitter. I’ve never seen the show before and I’m a little intimidated at how many seasons there are, so I’m not even sure if I’ll get through the entire series. But for now, I’m really enjoying it. I can’t watch a lot of it at once, as much as I’d like to, because the surgeries and health issues with the patients get to me. As well as when the doctors lose patients in episodes – emotional things kill me inside.
So that’s my November wrap up. I’ll have my Reindeer Readathon TBR up in the next day or two, which will be nine books. Obviously, it’s not a problem as long as my reading mood doesn’t shift again. I think it’ll be fine though.
What did your November look like?
