Quote of the Week – 2/27/2022

“If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.”

― Stephen King

I’ve never read any of Stephen King’s fiction books (I’m not a horror person) but even without having read his books, I know that this guy knows what he’s talking about when it comes to writing. I might not agree with everything that he says about the craft, but he doesn’t hold back with his advice.

This is such advice. I agree with this statement though, especially as a writer myself. Reading supplies writers with the basic do and don’ts of writing, but it’s obviously okay to break the rules. Writing, like many things, has evolved. And what’s great about it is that every writer has their own style.

The point here, though, is that if you want to write well, you should really make time to read.
