Top Ten Tuesday – Books Set in Places I Want to Visit

This is such a fun topic to cover! I actually have my own little mini-series of Places Books Have Taken Me since most of my ‘traveling’ has been through reading. Honestly, the right book can make you feel as if you’ve been to a place before. I might not have ever gotten my Hogwarts letter, but I’ve been to Hogwarts, dang it.

10 Books Set in Places I Want to Visit

1. A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow by Laura Taylor Namey – England

I’ve wanted to visit England for as long as I can remember. So many different books and movies have made me want to visit.

2. Love a la Mode by Stephanie Kate Strohm – Paris, France

I’m completely in love with France, the French language, and just anything French, really. This is one of my top destinations that I’d love to visit someday.

3. Royals by Rachel Hawkins – Scotland

Scotland just seems like another beautiful country to visit, so yeah, I wanna go.

4. Impossible Music by Sean Williams – Australia

I mean, who doesn’t want to visit Australia? At least for their wildlife, anyway. And the accents. I don’t know much about it otherwise, so I’d like to see what they’re about.

5. Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch – Ireland

This book just made me fall in love with the country, plus, I’m Irish, and I have this thing about wanting to visit the countries that my parents’ families came from.

6. The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morganthaler – Moose Springs,Alaska

Alaska just seems like it would be beautiful to see, not that I’m about the cold, but I could make a short visit to appreciate its beauty.

7. Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn & David Levithian

I’ve technically been to NYC, but only for Yankees games. I’ve never actually experienced New York City, like going to stores, Central Park, and all that fun stuff.

8. Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner – Nashville, Tennessee

I just would love to visit all fifty states, otherwise I don’t really know why I’d visit Tennessee. My best friend lives just below the border of this state in Alabama, so I’d like to go with her when I eventually visit her.

9. Love & Olives by Jenna Evans Welch – Santorini, Greece

I’d like to visit Greece in general, I don’t care where. But this place seems nice.

10. I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys – Romania

While my grandfather was born in Hungary, he spent a good portion of his life being raised in Romania, so in addition to Hungary, I’d like to eventually visit Romania.

Have you read any of the books I listed? What are some books that take place in places you’d like to visit?
