I know it’s not quite the end of the year, but I’m posting this a bit early since I know I won’t be reading any of the rest of these before 2023.
Anyway, at the end of last year I picked 22 books I wanted to read in 2022. As one could predict, despite reading over 120 books for the year, I didn’t read all from this list. What can I say? I’m a mood reader and a lot of these books were ones that I just wasn’t in the mood for. I did try though. There was one on the list that actually ended up being a DNF book, so again, I tried.
If you want to read any of the reviews for the books I’ve read off of this list, you can check out my Review Index for them.
22 Books I Wanted to Read in 2022
New Adult/Adult Contemporaries

I didn’t end up reading ANY of these [insert screaming emoji here]. Wow. I know I thought about reading The Camera Never Lies and Just Last Night a couple of times, but always ended up picking something else.
Young-Adult Contemporaries

Don’t Breathe a Word – ✰✰✰✰✰
Along for the Ride – ✰✰✰✰.5
The Last Thing You Said – ✰✰✰.5
When We Were Strangers – ✰✰✰✰
The Girl in the Headlines – ✰✰✰✰.25
Nick and Noel’s Christmas Playlist – 1, my mistake for thinking it’s YA (it’s not!). 2, this is the book I did not finish, I just couldn’t.
I did not read Emancipated or A Taste For Love
Young-Adult Fantasy

A Crystal of Time – ✰✰✰✰
One True King – ✰✰✰✰✰
Ash Princess – ✰✰✰✰✰
Classics

Sense & Sensibility – ✰✰✰.5
Hamlet – ✰✰✰✰
To Kill a Mockingbird – did not read
Non-Fiction

I didn’t end up reading any of these ones. I have a harder time getting into non-fiction, and so much happened this year where I needed fictional escapes. Maybe next year for these three.

The good thing is that I didn’t overly stress about whether I read these books or not. I know my reading habits, and this year I just ended up reading a lot of manga along with my typical fiction books because I wanted to finish up a series. I was going to do a 23 Books for 2023 Challenge, but I found a different one on Instagram that I might go with instead, which is just one prompt a month. A little less intimidating, and I don’t necessarily have to pick out the books ahead of time.
How did you do on your reading challenges this year?

2022 wasn’t the best reading year at the start, but it’s gotten better. I’m looking forward to 2023. I hope it’s a good year for you as well.
