I don’t usually pre-order books, which is why I’m sharing a post about the books I have in the beginning of this year. I’ve only ever pre-order a couple of times before (not counting my mom pre-ordering the Harry Potter books for me). In fact, the only books I know for sure that I’ve preordered were Time Bomb by Joelle Charbonneau (read an eARC from NetGalley and knew I needed the book right away!) and Sense and Second-Degree Murder by Tirzah Price (which I still have yet to read).
I did pre-order some ebooks last year, but again, it was only two and I still have to read them. So, four books. I’ve only ever pre-ordered four books before this year.
And now, allow me to share the books I’ve pre-ordered because I’m a sucker for a sale, sweepstakes, personally signed books, and supporting indie bookstores.

One of Us is Back by Karen M. McManus
Release date: July 25, 2023
That’s right! McManus is back with another (and final) installment of One of Us is Lying! I was surprised to see this book on Goodreads and immediately added it because McManus is an auto-author for me now.
There’s a sweepstakes going on if you order from Barnes & Noble to win a bunch of goodies when the book is released. I’ll admit that this is what prompted me to order, as well as B&N’s pre-order sale for 25% off of pre-ordered books. How could I not take that deal?

The Answer to Anxiety by Joyce Meyer
Release date: February 7th, 2023
I can’t even tell you how long I’ve watched Joyce Meyer. I’m inconstant with watching, but she’s always been one of my favorite Bible teachers. I especially love her devotionals, one of which I’m reading this year.
However, since my 2023 has been nothing but anxiety so far, and I need to get back on track of leaving my anxieties and worries to God, because I know His plan will always prevail. I just need a little guidance getting there.

The Fall of the School For Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
Release date: May 2nd, 2023
I’m very excited for this book to come out after reading the first of this prequel duology last year. Last year I actually went to a book talk/signing and met Soman, which was pretty cool. However, I’m unsure if he’ll be back in my state this year, so I figured I’d pre-order the book from an indie bookstore where he’ll be doing personalized signings to send out.

Manslaughter Park by Tirzah Price
Release date: June 27th, 2023
I read her first book and still need to read Sense and Second Degree Murder, but I already know I’ll want this book. So as soon as Price announces that she’s doing signed pre-orders (or at least I’m hoping she does) you can bet that I’ll be doing that right away!
She did them from her local indie bookstore last year, so I’m assuming that’s where she’ll do it from again, assuming she does signed pre-orders, that is.

Borrow My Heart by Kasie West
Release date: June 13th, 2023
I read her first book and still need to read Sense and Second Degree Murder, but I already know I’ll want this book. So as soon as Price announces that she’s doing signed pre-orders (or at least I’m hoping she does) you can bet that I’ll be doing that right away!

Clementine and Danny Save the World (and each other) by Livia Blackurne
Release date: July 18th, 2023
The ‘You’ve Got Mail’ vibes of this description pulled me in, as it’s one of my favorite movies. Who doesn’t love a good story where two online friends (or in this case, foes) meet in real life without realizing it and it complicates everything when the reality hits them?
Well, if you don’t, you should give it a shot.

I know for sure that I’ll be pre-ordering Manslaughter Park when it’s available, and the other two are just strong possibilities at this point. They don’t release for quite a while, so I do have a lot of time to decide. Well, in theory. We all know how quickly time can pass when you’re making decisions.
Have you pre-ordered any books this year? If not, are you planning to?

I don’t normally pre-order books, but for some reason this year I did. I’ve pre-ordered Tress and the Emerald Sea and The Spite House. I have to say that it’s super convenient to pre-order lol.

It is! And when a book is a few months out it’s like a nice little present/surprise for yourself if you forgot about it lol

I’ve often relied on pre-orders to get the books I really do want, however, I am trying to control how many books I buy and when so I want to limit the amount of pre-orders I make. Saying that, I do have six books pre-ordered already, the main ones being A Day of Fallen Night, and Cursed Crowns. Hopefully, I’ll stick to that but we’ll see.

This is the most I’ve preordered in a year (because I know there will be at least two more) but I’m good with it. I also want to try to keep it at the 5 (maybe 6) for the year though 😅

I plan to do a lot of preordering this year but a lot of the books I’m interested in, I’m waiting to see if they’ll have some sort of ordering campaign. Out of the norm of what I usually read, but I ordered Kristina Forests romance book bc she usually writes YA and I’ve loved a lot of her books! Ooh I got one of Karen’s books from the library cause the summary sounded so interesting “Nothing More” or something like that! Have you read it?

I’ve been wanting to read Kristina Forest’s books, but haven’t gotten around to them yet.
Yes! ‘Nothing More’ was good! Definitely better than ‘You’ll Be the Death of Me’ (which was good, but not my favorite of hers)

I loved seeing what books you’ve preordered! I don’t preorder often, but I did it for Mysteries of Thorn Manor, which came out in January 🥰
