Review: The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting

May 14, 2022May 14, 20222 Comments

Evanna Lynch has long been viewed as a role model for people recovering from anorexia, as the story of her casting as Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films grew to almost mythic proportions--a tale of how she faced disordered eating as a young girl, found solace in a beloved book series, and several years … Continue reading Review: The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting

We Didn’t Need the “Cursed Child” Book

February 15, 2022February 12, 20221 Comment

We needed a book about the Marauders and their time at Hogwarts, along with Lily Evans and Severus Snape. A series about them would be fantastic, of course, but I would've even been happy with one book. And I'm not talking about a play or script to a movie published as a book. Fantastic Beasts … Continue reading We Didn’t Need the “Cursed Child” Book

Discussion: Length of a Book Series

October 4, 2021June 16, 202213 Comments

A co-worker and I were recently talking to a patron about book series and how some of them can get to be too long, and honestly, I think it's a problem with how long some series go on. Trust me, I love a good series where I can keep on reading about the lives of … Continue reading Discussion: Length of a Book Series

Books I Wish I Could Read for the First Time Again

August 21, 2021June 16, 20225 Comments

So many times I look at some of my books and see ones that I wish I could read again but as if it were the first time. I know a lot of us bookworms feel this way because there's nothing like opening a book and being brought into an entire new world for the … Continue reading Books I Wish I Could Read for the First Time Again

Top 5 Film Adaptations

January 29, 2021June 15, 20222 Comments

Film adaptations can be either great or terrible, depending on who's in control of the project. more often than not, the movies made based off books are actually pretty good, though if you ask a bookworm... the book was better. Obviously. Still, that doesn't mean that film adaptations aren't good. The main reason I feel … Continue reading Top 5 Film Adaptations

5 Book Series Recommendations

August 27, 2020June 15, 20222 Comments

In order to get myself back in the groove of blogging, I'm here with some recommendations I had written up in a notebook but hadn't gotten around to typing up yet. We all love our books that come in a series because we get to stay with our beloved characters a bit longer. Most series … Continue reading 5 Book Series Recommendations

Books I’d Love to See as Films

August 8, 2020June 11, 20224 Comments

As readers, we always prefer the books over the movie. However, that doesn't mean we don't like to see our favorite characters and stories come to life on the big screen (or our TVs/laptops). I have to say that I can't really complain about a lot of the movies I've seen that were based off … Continue reading Books I’d Love to See as Films

O.W.L.’s Readathon TBR

March 29, 2020June 15, 2022Leave a comment

Hey all! I hope you're all fairing well during this challenging time in the world. It's definitely not easy, but as long as we all work together and support those on the front lines (health care, first responders, etc) we'll beat this thing! Meanwhile, I've been looking forward to the Magical Readathon coming up because … Continue reading O.W.L.’s Readathon TBR

Read or Watch First?

November 8, 2019June 14, 20222 Comments

Many books end up being turned into movies simply because of all the hype they generate in their book form, and let's face it, a lot of us love to see our favorite characters come to life.  And when our favorite books aren't popular enough to get turned into movies, we cast the "would-be" movie … Continue reading Read or Watch First?

Five on Friday: Favorite Side Characters

September 13, 2019June 11, 20221 Comment

Happy Friday guys!  This week actually went by kind of quick for me, and it was a pretty good week. This week's topic is Favorite Side Characters, which I happened to notice was last week's prompt for some of the blogs I follow.  Seems like we all think alike... I'm just a little later to … Continue reading Five on Friday: Favorite Side Characters

Five on Friday: Books That Left Me a Crying Mess

September 6, 2019June 11, 2022Leave a comment

Friday again!  Hope everyone had an enjoyable week after the holiday! This week's topic is Books That Made Me Cry, and when I say this, I mean that "ugly cry."  Or in other words, the crying that leaves us a mess.  I typically try to avoid these kinds of books because I hate crying that … Continue reading Five on Friday: Books That Left Me a Crying Mess

Book vs. Movie: Harry Potter

September 1, 2019June 11, 2022Leave a comment

Happy 'Back to Hogwarts' Day! It's no surprise to anyone that when a book is turned into a movie that the movie will be missing some key parts or characters from the book.  And with the length of the later Harry Potter novels, it's really no surprise that a lot of things were missed or … Continue reading Book vs. Movie: Harry Potter

Five on Friday: Childhood Favorites

August 30, 2019June 11, 20222 Comments

Happy Friday everyone!  It's time for another Five on Friday!  This week's topic is childhood favorites which works because I've been feeling a bit nostalgic lately.  I think it's because of all these reboots happening of my favorite shows.  It's just making me miss that time period - the late 90s and early 2000s - … Continue reading Five on Friday: Childhood Favorites

Five on Friday: Books I Could Reread Forever

August 23, 2019June 11, 20224 Comments

Since I began following other bloggers I've noticed that there are fun little "topic days" that they tend to participate in like Top Ten Tuesday or something similar, which I think is pretty cool because it gives bloggers something sure that they can post every week.  Let's face it, besides reviews, it can be hard … Continue reading Five on Friday: Books I Could Reread Forever

Five fantastic stars AGAIN for this novel. I loved it years ago when it came out and feel the same after rereading.
QOTD: do you find yourself to be more of a morning, afternoon, or night reader?
Welp, this is a DNF. There’s just no depth to the story at all. I normally don’t read Patterson on principle, but I figured, “hey the person who ACTUALLY wrote it deserves a chance.” Unfortunately, this just didn’t hold my attention.
Seriously wishing I could just get paid to read books 😪
It’s the weekend. Read books. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Name a book that you knew was going to make you sad, but you read it anyway 🥲
